Little Sun Farm and the Headwaters Incubator Program

This past weekend Levi, our lead farmer and Drake, our community coordinator, took a field trip out to Little Sun Farm, to get a tour and pick up some dill from Reiden, owner of Little Sun Farm. Little Sun Farm is a native and woman owned farm in its second year of production with almost an acre looking out toward Mt. Hood. It was a beautiful sight to behold.

Please support Reiden and Little Sun Farm! You can support this farm by looking out for them on Sundays at the Woodstock Farmers Market from 10:00am-2:00pm, or consider purchasing a CSA with pickup offered in NE Portland! Follow the link to learn more about this farm and how you might get involved.

Little Sun Farm is part of a really unique program called the Headwaters Incubator Farm. We learned that this program offers affordable land and resources to local farmers, and currently is home to somewhere around 14 different farms! We found ourselves very impressed by the tools, facilities and organization of the program.

Seeing opportunities such as the Headwaters Incubator Program, funded through the support of the East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District (EMSWCD), was very inspiring. The property sits on 60 acres just outside of Gresham. If you’re interested in starting a farm of your own, this is definitely a resource to check out. Find out more information here.
